Drew Vielbig
Drew is a Utility Scale Developer at Ranger Power. Some of Drew's best memories as a part of the Lambda Xi chapter were the guys' weekend retreats, because he loved being able to spend time and bond with brothers outside of meetings. There, he really got to know his brothers
When Drew joined Delta Sigma Pi in the Fall of 2016, he saw that the chapter was a high functioning, impressive group of people with great chemistry, incredible motivation, and clear goals in mind. Looking back, he realizes that being a brother has made him "a more confident and focused professional." |

When did you graduate from Grand Valley?
I graduated from GVSU in December of 2012. Where do you currently work and what is your job title? I currently work in the Medicaid Hospital and Clinic Reimbursement Division for the State of Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, where I’ve worked as a Financial Analyst and now as a Medicaid Rates and Review Auditor. What were some of your best memories in Lambda Xi? My favorite memories involved getting to know all of the Fraternity members and being able to share in all of the fun times together such as Griffins games, house parties, volunteering at the John Ball Zoo during Zoo Goes Boo and meeting other universities' Delta Sigma Pi members at retreats. |
What was the organization like when you were a member?
I want to say we had about 25 members. Andrew was our President when I was initiated into the Fraternity, followed by Whitney Pederson We all meshed well land you'll see after you graduate, having that kind of culture where you get along and enjoy being around each person you work with is such a positive boost to your everyday life.
How has the organization benefited you in your professional life after school?
Delta Sigma Pi helped me get out of my shell and really start to build relationships with people who were outside of my hometown. Now instead of being the most shy person in the room, out of all 30 some odd co-workers, I’ve found myself being the one who interacts the most with everyone. It may not seem as important as learning to be a hard-working, organized, confident individual but trust me it is. While you will need to have all of those traits in the professional world, I’ve found that it is equally beneficial for you to be social and build connections with people. By having those connections it’s been easier to “climb the ladder”; or at a minimum it allows you to at least enjoy being around the people you spend 8-plus hours a day with.
