Delta Sigma Pi is a professional fraternity, organized to foster the study of business in universities; no encourage scholarship, social activity and the association of students for their mutual advancement by research and practice; to promote closer affiliation between the commercial world and students of commerce, and to further a higher standard of commercial ethics and culture and the civic and commercial welfare of the community.
History of Delta Sigma PiDelta Sigma Pi was founded in 1907 at the New York University: School of Commerce, Accounts and Finance by Harold Valentine Jacobs, Alexander Frank Makay, Alfred Moysello, and Henry Albert Tienken. Today, from coast to coast, near 300 active alumni and collegiate chapters,and over 275,000 initiated members support the goals and ideals of the Fraternity.
Candidate for membership into Delta Sigma Pi must receive an invitation to join from a local chapter, complete the orientation program, and demonstrate a willingness to perpetuate the ideals of the Fraternity. Members may be male and female of all creeds and ethnicities engaged in the study of business or related fields. Cross-membership in Greek Social Fraternities and Sororities is permitted as well. |
History of the Lambda Xi ChapterThe Lambda Xi Chapter at Grand Valley State University was established on April 19, 1986, and continues to focus on brotherhood, networking, professional development, and philanthropy.
Past Assistant Dean of the Seidman College of Business, Dean Reifel, assisted in the development and implementation of the Lambda Xi chapter of the International Fraternity of Delta Sigma Pi on Grand Valley State University's campuses. Today, more than 630 Grand Valley Students have been initiated into the Fraternity through the Lambda Xi chapter, and we are constantly searching for new prospective members to continue our rich tradition at GVSU. Delta Sigma Pi - Lambda Xi is the longest standing Professional Fraternity on Grand Valley's campus. |

Troubles are bound to happen and a capable leader is able to make a tough journey pleasant and a pleasant journey better.
What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving
so a leader must not be fully responsible but fully capable.
It is up to the group to contribute but if they do not,
it is no loss, for the more responsibility unto the capable the greater share of honor they receive,
and I would not like to lose so great an honor.
And those who relinquish responsibility would think themselves cursed they did not more.
And the officers of Delta Sigma Pi years from now will remember with advantage what they did beyond what they must.
